Denise received a letter earlier this week from Martin Kusiak:
Dear Denise,
I really appreciate what you have had done for me. You probably do not remember but after having a job with the REDACTED family through my personal contact, you hired me at the REDACTED residence during the fall/winter season. It was a very valuable time which helped me get some amazing experience. Thanks to you I was able to work for the REDACTED family!
All my career started at the Greenhouse. You believed in me/gave me a chance and I am where I am.
Thank you for everything!

In-House With Greenhouse, our new video series, is here and boy are we excited! Tune in to this great interview with Roger Cushwa from Domestic Estate Management Association. You got it! You got the job! Hooray! The first day, you show up on time and it’s wonderful. The next day is even better. The following day is kind of rough, but it’s expected. The fourth day everything comes to a screeching halt. While walking into another room you see your coworkers stealing from the employer. No if, ands, or buts….they are stealing. They look at you and tell you to keep quiet or you will be the first to go. What the heck just happened? What do you do? 1. Do you go to the employer and [ Read the rest…]

We cannot tell you how many people have lost their job because they talked too much. They want to spread all their personal information or they got caught up on the gossip train with other staff at the household or they got too friendly with the employer and said some things that could be deemed inappropriate. Gossiping with other staff will hurt the whole team. No one wants to feel like they are being talked about. No one wants to work in a negative space. The entire staff, the doorman, and the chauffeur should not know you just got [ Read the rest…]

In life, nothing is guaranteed except death. I believe a lot of candidates feel that when they meet with a staffing company that it automatically guarantees them a job. THIS is not true for many reasons. A staffing company can meet with you and present you to an employer that they feel you are suitable for. They can assist you with your resume, give you interview pointers, help with your presentation, etc. However, they cannot be YOU. If, and I mean if the employer decides to meet you, the only person walking into that interview is you. The energy you [ Read the rest…]

As a household staffing employee, your relationship with your placement specialist in an agency is crucial to both parties. YOU need the specialist to find the best job for you; one that has great pay, schedule, and benefits. THEY need you to have all the top qualifications that our clients are looking for; flexibility, long term experience, can live-in, and drive. When the two meet it is a wonderful thing. What is even better is when both conduct themselves in a professional manner. Let’s be honest, everyone can revisit their own professional way of thinking. We will start with the [ Read the rest…]

Even though the internet is a great resource for so many different things, do you ever feel it’s a little impersonal and that people could easily lie when they are online? In most cases, the small lies would not be important, but when a person is trying to hire someone who is going to live in their home and take care of their children, those lies could be a tremendous problem. Background checks and references could only go so far since a background check only shows if the person is a criminal and a reference can easily be faked by [ Read the rest…]

Not everyone’s passion is to be a doctor or a lawyer. Some people’s passion is being the best nanny a family could ask for. Some love being able to keep a home spotless and organized. There are those that enjoy cooking wonderful meals for a family. Passion has many colors for different people. Have you thought what your passion is? Have you taken steps to make that passion a daily thing you perform? I meet many people that love working with children as a nanny. Although they love being around the children, they have not taken the extra steps that [ Read the rest…]

Rejection! We have all been through it. No one escapes this sometimes painful situation. Many people take rejection and say to themselves “Hey that’s just the way it goes.” Others take it like a quick sting. They feel it and then they eventually heal. Then there are those that simply cannot deal with rejection. They become depressed or angry. Rejection varies in size. How you deal with it tells a lot about your spirit. Personally, I know a lot about rejection. My passion is acting. I’ve been going out on auditions for years now. Do I make them all? No. [ Read the rest…]
