Congrats! You got the job! The interview went great and your employer is excited to have you. You dressed your best & you looked your best, now how do you keep that image going forward? Unless the job requires you to wear a daily uniform, you’ll be granted the freedom of choosing your own work wear. Now you don’t expect to wear your interview outfit everyday do you? Maintaining a good work image will be your next target goal. You want to keep the same image your employer had of you upon hiring throughout your employment. This can get tricky [ Read the rest…]

Some Great Tips for Formal Serving!

  pexels-photo-302746

Serving the Table! Most upscale dinners will include 5 courses, encompassing an appetizer, soup, salad, entree, and dessert. Many formal settings practice the open hand service method, which means that a server’s arms are never to be crossed in front of a guest, and food is always served from the guest’s left side. Important Tips to Remember: Ladies are always served first. Never eat, drink, or chew gum in front of guests. Always exhibit proper posture – Do not slouch, cross your arms, or leave your hands in your pockets while on service. Press uniforms to eliminate wrinkles, creases, and [ Read the rest…]

Watch Your Step!

We recently received an email from a client about how her Housekeeper accidentally used furniture polish on her wood floors instead of floor cleaner. The floors looked shiny and new, but the household quickly found themselves slipping and sliding all over the place. What looked like a beautiful new floor was really an invisible ice skating rink in disguise! While the family appreciated the effort their housekeeper put into her work and the results, they did not appreciate this mistake that could’ve been dangerous.   Here are ways this situation could’ve been prevented: If you are a Housekeeper and are [ Read the rest…]

The Smokin’ Domestic & Household Worker

Smokin Domestic Worker } Greenhouse Staffing Agency

I bet the majority of you thought you were going to see a smokin’ hot housekeeper, chef, butler, or nanny huh? Sorry to lead you on, but this “smokin’” is in reference to the “smoker”; you know the one that smokes cigarettes (Newport, Marlboro, Lucky Strike, etc.). Anyway, we get many clients that call us and request that whatever candidate we send be a non-smoker. We have actually had people that were right for the job, had a great personality and the perfect fit lose out because they smoked. The client will say, “I smelled them as soon as they [ Read the rest…]

The Dog Came Out Of Nowhere… and the Candidate Ran From The Interview!!!

  dogie-and-human-clipart

All was going as good as could be. Julie was being interviewed by Mr. & Mrs. French. The three were chatting for about 45 minutes. Mom & Dad even brought their cute 4 year old to meet and talk to Julie. All were very relaxed, with Julie going over her past experience and answering all questions asked. Mr. & Mrs. French had already begun to think about a start date. They liked Julie. They can tell she knew her job, was sincere and liked the questions she had asked. All was going as good as could be. Julie was being [ Read the rest…]

How to Work As Part of a Household Staff

We ask all to pray for Denise Behnke!

Many nannies today aren’t the only household employee working in a home. It’s not unusual for a family to also employ a housekeeper, a household manager, a cook and other people to help them manage the day to day tasks that come with running a home and caring for a family. While having a co-worker can be a welcome relief to the isolation that often comes with having a household job, it can be challenging to work alongside other employers in the home environment. Here are some tips for being successful when you’re part of a household staff. Keep the [ Read the rest…]

If only Employers of “Personal Service Staff” would be clear about their expectations and the job…..what a wonderful world it would be????

  Job Responsibilities

I’ve found the majority of my clients have found (learned) ways of making tons of money…. but along with this comes the “Frankenstein”…… the 15,000 + sq ft house or apartment. The 2nd and 3rd (many times more) properties. Boats, planes and a fleet of cars. But these are still family units, with the same basic needs of all families, compounded now with complications of all the toys mentioned above. It’s a “monster” resulting from hard work, success & choice of lifestyle. Now eight or more bathrooms need cleaning, four or more beds need be stripped and made if not [ Read the rest…]

Our sincere heartfelt sorrow goes out to the family who’s nanny aparently committed the “most” horrendous & tragic of acts

  Don

In Nanny Staffing business for 36 years.  Seen it all when it comes to references, credentials, academic history & background.  Cannot believe how some people stick to their “made up or phony presentation,” when trying to get a job.  Even when the truth is exposed and put in front of their faces.  Always better to be safe than sorry.  Listen to your instincts.  Pay attention to the smallest of “red flags.”  Don’t only check the “reference” of a nanny….. check references/verify the “reference” itself. Be smart.  Have a potential Candidate interviewed by a Doctor or similar professional.  Please be very [ Read the rest…]
