I Am Top Notch! Says Who?

So you call us to let us know that you are a high profile Chef with royal experience and top notch clients. We say “Great! Please send your resume for review.” You say, you want to speak to someone about your wonderful qualifications and that a piece of paper does not define you. You try to belittle the person answering the phone by saying they don’t understand because they are just “answering phones”.

Well Mr. High Profile, the real candidates have resumes that reflect their high profile and top notch-ism (yes, I made that word up). The real ones know how to market themselves and remain professional at all times. The real ones know exactly what to ask and how to ask. They do not need to belittle, or talk around what is being asked from them. They have telephone etiquette. They do not think they are above all others because they know that NYC has some of the best candidates around. Top candidates that send their resumes, fill out applications, provide reference letters, etc. If they are missing one of the above, they make it up by being kind and following directions.

Like any other job you are applying to, there are standard procedures that take place. Follow them, because anyone can talk a good game. We are looking to find decent human beings that have great references and experience. That are professional and can conduct themselves in a professional demeanor at an interview. Being professional and top notch does not just entail bragging rights; it entails integrity, being the best you can be in all aspects, understanding how to apply to positions, and above all how to treat other humans with respect. All of those attributes combined with a fantastic resume and professional attitude will get you anywhere you want to go in this business.

So to all our high profile, top-notch domestic workers, being great is not recognized by you saying it, it is by you doing it in your work, presentation, and attitude. So go and BE great.

Glenn Greenhouse
Glenn began in the “family business” more than 30 years ago, by coming to work for his Father, Martin Greenhouse. He often recounts how nervous he was, when at 19 years old his Father forced him to pick up the phone and speak with David Suskind. This was to be the first of dozens of phone calls and meetings to come for Glenn……with Celebrity Clientele. Glenn considers himself very fortunate to have spent his life working at a job he truly loves and as he puts it: “earn a comfortable living at the same time.”
