Valentine’s Day With Your Employers

You can and should feel loved every day of the year but one day in particular stands out with all its romantic yet capitalistic flair. Valentine’s Day is this week! Meaning the streets will be paved with hearts and chocolate sales will go through the roof. I hope you didn’t forget to book that restaurant reservation! Homes and offices will get decorated in a red flurry of lovey dovey signs and points of passionate inspiration. February 14th truly is a day for everyone to come together in the name of romance, including employers & employees.

It doesn’t have to be awkward! I know that’s what most people will think when they step into their work environments. From housekeepers to office workers, there are sophisticated ways of going through this holiday with enough liveliness to make it joyful and conscientiousness to avoid tongue-tied disaster.

To start, decorate! Spruce up your work environment with lively paper hearts & tints of red or pink. It’s okay to get gifts too! So long as those gifts don’t cross personal boundaries and are simple enough to be considered sweet & thoughtful. You don’t have to buy something that screams “I love you!” to your boss or employees, just show them your appreciation with a simple box of chocolates, or other small & tasty treats. I personally enjoy getting small baked goods from a bakery & distributing them evenly among my peers to express my gratitude to them.

Another important reminder, not everyone will enjoy Valentine’s Day. It’s also okay if you don’t either, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try. Just remember to be responsible about it & avoid pushing boundaries you or others may not feel comfortable crossing.
