You Waited 20 Minutes: We Apologize!

Every now and then, we get behind. Yes, there will be more than 10 people that showed up around the same time. There will be a candidate that cannot seem to find their way to the address provided and we have to help them. There may be a client that calls to discuss a trial, a new job order, or even a replacement. Sometimes we are very busy and get behind on interviews. If your appointment was at 11am, we may not get to you until 11:24am. We apologize. Things get hectic and they are out of our control. However, please do not get upset with your Placement Specialist and become short and snippy during the interview. The keyword being “interview” because you should not forget that you are on one.

Let’s say you were on your way to a client for an interview and you misplaced the address and needed to speak to us. Wouldn’t you want us to pick up the phone and get you the help you needed? What if you were at the home of a client and they were running late at least 40 minutes. Are you going to scold them and tell them you have been waiting 40 minutes AFTER they apologized? Trust me, we know how long you have been waiting.

It all boils down to how you handle things. If you cannot handle something this simple, you will NOT be able to handle the pressures of working in the domestic field. Yes, you may have another appointment or have to get to work. Just kindly tell the assistant or person at the front desk that you are running short on time. Maybe something can be done to get you out. Just remember, you should not think your appointment is at noon and you will get out at 12:30pm. We have questions to ask and we must be able to assess your personality and character. We are sending you to a family and want to make sure you will match perfectly. So scheduling something so close shows that you may not have planned accordingly. Blowing up for waiting 20 minutes shows us you cannot handle pressure. We are not trying to waste your time purposely. We want to get you in and out as quickly as you do, however things happen and we just have to roll with what we have and make the best of it. If you get nothing else from this remember this quote:

“Your energy introduces you before you even speak” – I don’t know who said it, but I believe it….TOTALLY!
