Things to think about when go over a potential employee’s references

When checking references on a candidate, know who your talking to. Google the address of the reference, Google the reference, IE: your given a name, phone & address, Your told the Nanny earned $1,000.00 per week, worked with other staff in a large Suburban House with a swimming pool, tennis court, gazebo etc. After doing a bit of Google, you find the house is a tiny row house, in an industrial area & the reference works as a taxi driver….duh, something isn’t right.  When interviewing, see what your kids think. Note your “pets” reaction to the candidate.  Kids and dogs have a natural instinct. True professional, seasoned candidates will NOT wear flashy jewelery, have tattoos, smell from heavy perfume or be dressed for a “Saturday Night Out.”

Glenn began in the “family business” more than 30 years ago, by coming to work for his Father, Martin Greenhouse. He often recounts how nervous he was, when at 19 years old his Father forced him to pick up the phone and speak with David Suskind. This was to be the first of dozens of phone calls and meetings to come for Glenn……with Celebrity Clientele. Glenn considers himself very fortunate to have spent his life working at a job he truly loves and as he puts it: “earn a comfortable living at the same time.”

Thank you for the compliment.  It is appreciated.  Would be grateful, if you can pass on relevant info from your rss reader.  There’s another blog, about “checking out the REFERENCE, a Candidate may list.”  I’m trying to get accross, checking a job-seeker’s reference is one thing.  Knowing as much as possible about the REFERENCE, them selves is equally important.  In other words; we never really know who we’re talking to on the other end of the phone.
Be sure, you’re talking a “legitimate, bonafide reference,” who in this business, will be a person or family who’s wealthy and can afford to hire Domestic/Household Staff.

that society has to find ways to make room baaisclly for solo people instead of ignoring us and helping those in the traditional family roles.I firmly believe that whether single, partnered off, childless, with child(ren) etc, people have to try to care for themselves solely as we cannot and should not rely on others.personally for myself, I am in the process of making sure I have enough cash for my burial (again working in the medical field makes me immune to this stuff). there is a lot of stuff to consider and ensure being single but I think evryone should think of the long term.

Hi אנונימי Looks like Eishay and I sort of are in agreement with you. I wasn’t aware of the s/S game but in greaenl I think that being able to say “I have one instance of this object” is good and accessing objects globally is bad. Container provided singletons let us enjoy both worlds

Thanks for your comment. Utilizing the technology available, it’s become easy to verify the authenticity of a reference. After all, you never know who your truly talking to, when checking a reference.

  • My husband and i ended up being contented when Michael could complete his investigations by way of the ideas he got out of your blog. It’s not at all simplistic to simply possibly be freely giving key points which often other folks could have been making money from. And we discover we have the website owner to be grateful to for this. The most important explanations you have made, the straightforward blog menu, the relationships your site help to create – it is everything astounding, and it’s helping our son and our family understand that issue is cool, and that is rather pressing. Many thanks for the whole lot!
